Silk Fan - The Great Wave

A beautiful depiction of one of Japan's most iconic images. Created as a wood block print in 1829 by the artist, Hokusai, this is one of 36 famous images he produced depicting the revered Mount Fuji. Impressions of the print are now on display at several of the world's great museums. In Asian cultures, fans are regarded as both a practical everyday tool for comfort - along with being a wonderful platform to depict beautiful art.
