Artemis Greek Goddess Of The Hunt Statue 78098
Artemis was the Greek goddess of the hunt, wilderness, wild animals, and childbirth. She was also associated with the moon and is often depicted carrying a bow and arrows. She was one of the most widely venerated of all the ancient Greek deities. Her twin brother Apollo was her constant companion and they were both children of Zeus and Leto. Artemis had many powers including being able to protect women in labor, bring sudden death to those who offended her, turn people into animals as punishment for their misdeeds, and even control nature itself. She is often portrayed as a young woman wearing a short tunic or chiton with hunting boots or sandals on her feet.
