Hecate is a goddess of Greek mythology who was capable of the duality of both good and evil. She was associated with witchcraft, magic, necromancy, the moon and creatures of the night such as hell hounds and spirits. She is often depicted as a goddess with three faces, representing her role of the guardian of the crossroads and her association with the lunar cycle. Hecate was one of the main deities worshiped in Athenian homes as a protective goddess, shrines of Hecate were placed at doorways with the belief that she will protect people from the dead and evil spirits.
