Themis, (Greek: “Order”) in Greek religion, is the personification of justice, and Titan goddess of divine law, order, wisdom and good counsel, and the interpreter of the gods. The traditional rules of conduct first established by the gods was within her sphere. She was also a prophetic goddess who presided over the most ancient oracles, including Delphoi (Delphi). According to Hesiod’s Theogony, she was the daughter of Uranus (Heaven) and Gaea (Earth), although at times she was apparently identified with Gaea, as in Aeschylus’s Eumenides and Prometheus Bound. Her symbol is the Scales of Justice.

Themis in modern-day depictions is often called "Lady Justice" and statues can be found outside many courthouses.
