The days of funk music were epic, especially with Parliament-Funkadelic, a funk music collective comprised of the bands' Parliament and Funkadelic. This collective has been active since the 1960s during the peak funk era, and are still active today.

George Clinton was the main headliner of the group, and they brought in psychedelic culture, science fiction, and surrealism. One of their albums, One Nation Under a Groove (1978), received critical praise and influenced later musicians, eventually being awarded a Grammy Lifetime Achievement award.
